Rack 'Em Records has announced it will release a long-lost duet single with Texas Icon Joe Ely and Pop Legend Linda Ronstadt on iTunes Monday, December 15.
“Where Is My Love” has been a staple in Ely's sets for years. It was recorded with Ronstadt in 1987 in an impromptu session in a Malibu, California studio with Mitch Watkins on guitar, Jim Keltner on drums and Tony Marisco on bass.
During a recent visit, Ely and Ronstadt remembered the recording session and wondered if they could actually find the track. Miraculously, after it was located, they were surprised at how it had withstood the test of time. So Ely took on the task of having it remastered.
"Last year I had a similar experience with The Flatlanders' The Odessa Tapes, which were found in a closet after being misplaced for 40 years," Ely said. "That made me wonder if I could get similar results with this track."
After hearing the newly mastered version, both Ely and Ronstadt felt it was time to share it with their fans.
Ely is staying plenty busy lately with the new release of his first novel, Reverb: An Odyssey, which was recently called “thrilling” by noted writer Bill Bentley.
